I was very saddened to learn of the passing of Lord Cormack, the President of BAFM, on the 24 February. Although he had only been with us a short time, his energy and wisdom reflected the leading role he had played in the struggle to preserve and enhance our cultural heritage. Truly a man of the people, whose values reflected his deep Christian faith. Paul Howitt-Cowan, BAFM’s Regional Coordinator attended Lord Cormack’s funeral which was held in Lincoln Cathedral. The order of service followed the Book of Common Prayer with the Choir of Lincoln Cathedral leading the music.

The Bishop of Lincoln was in attendance with the former Dean, Phillip Buckler giving the address; he was a personal friend of Lord Cormack.

There will be a Memorial Service for Lord Cormack in St Margaret’s, Westminster, known as the ‘parish church of The House of Commons’ at 12.00 noon on Monday 18 November 2024. A representative of BAFM will be in attendance.
